GUIDANCE ON REPORTING LEARNER ACHIEVEMENT IN END OF YEAR ASSESSMENT UNDER THE NEW LOWER SECONDARY CURRICULUM
The Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), through the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) revised the Lower Secondary Curriculum. The revision led to changes in the assessment and reporting modalities. To this effect, a sample of end of year learner’s report card has been designed. The sample report card aims at descriptively reporting about learner’s level of achievement on the competencies.
The report card incorporates:
1. Third term Formative report
2. Summary of end of year performance;
- Formative score of 20%
- End of year summative score of 80%
- Total score of 100% - The 8-level grading scale (A*, A, B, C, D, E, F, and G)
- Grade descriptors
- Score ranges
NCDC continues to appreciate all the schools, which have made effort to implement the New Lower Secondary Curriculum as prescribed.
